Freeview Retune Digital Retune
Why has my Freeview stopped working?
If your region has recently gone through the digital switchover it may be that your equipment (TV or Freeview set top box) has been affected by alteration in transmission which is part of the digital switchover.
30th September 2009 is when the Freeview signal will be improved to ensure viewers get clear pictures.
TV equipment which carries the "digital tick" logo is designed to work with the improved signal and may automatically retune to the new digital transmissions but some early digital boxes will not.

Other Freeview equipment will require a manual retune which by following your freeview equipment manufacturers instructions you should be able to do yourself.
We can send an engineer to call and carry out a manual Freeview retune if you are not comfortable doing this yourself.

Could my aerial equipment be causing the problem?
As the digital transmissions are changing frequencies, if you do not have a digital approved TV aerial, this could result in the loss of channels that you were previously receiving as well as other reception problems.
Why have I lost ITV3 and ITV4 since the Freeview retune?
This means that your existing aerial is receiving its signals from a relay transmitter. You could possibly have us call and re-direct your aerial to a main transmitter; however you may need to replace your aerial as not all aerials will be capable of being re-directed in this way.
Will the Freeview retune affect my satellite reception?
Owners of Sky & BBC freesat satellite systems will not be affected by these changes.
Will the Freeview retune affect my analogue reception?
No the Freeview retune involves moving digital muxes. Your old analogue equipment should not be affected at all.
Why is there a retune?
The retuning is the result of changes to the frequencies used to broadcast TV channels and radio stations. It's part of a plan to make Five available to a greater part of the country and clear the way for high-definition digital TV channels.
A new channel called ‘Quest’ will launch on channel 38 on Freeview. It will be available to the majority of Freeview homes.
I want to try and retune my Freeview equipment myself how do I do this?
The following Freeview retune instructions are from Freeview website, some equipment may differ and you may need to refer to the makers instruction manual.
• Switch on your Freeview TV or box
• Using your remote control, press "menu"
• Select the "set up" or "installation" option (sometimes called "factory reset", "full retune" or "default settings")
• Press "OK". If your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels, don't worry, this is normal.
• If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234
• Channels will be automatically installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart
• After retuning, you may have to reset your "favourites" list and when retuning your Freeview+ digital TV recorder, you may need to reset your future recordings
• Remember to retune every piece of Freeview equipment you have
• Retune your equipment from time to time to ensure you have the latest channels and services available to you.
A limited number of early Freeview TVs and boxes may fail when retuned.
